Hare & Hounds Cup
This is principally a mixed doubles event. Each pair staying as a pair for the morning.
So ladies choose yourself a partner asap, and assuming , he is consenting let me know who you will be playing with.
Don’t be put off if you are not approached by one of this year’s ‘top of the league’ ladies; I will pair individuals up competitively.
The exact format (tables and then Knockout) will be dictated by and decided on the number of couples who sign up.
It goes without saying ; the more the merrier; its been a good tennis season especially for our ladies team so keep playing; it could be your name on the cup this year.

American Doubles
Doubles but with individual scores.
The format of play is mixed doubles for a time period of half an hour ; then the pairings change and another half hour of tennis is played. This continues for 5 periods. You keep an individual score of the number of games you win playing with different partners. The winners are the male and female with the highest individual number of games won.
Initial pairings will be drawn on the day and the formula there after is best left unexplained!
- Warm up /Set up from 9.00am
- Picking pairings 9.45am
- Match play starts at 10.00am
- Period 1 : 10.00-10.30
- Period 2 : 10.35-11.05
- Period 3 : 11.10-11.40
- Period 4 : 11.45-12.15
- Period 5 : 12.20-12.50
- Followed by presentations and closure by 1.15pm
At this time it would be helpful to know if anyone is available and wanting to play in this, the second of our three annual club competitions.
Reminder : You don’t need a partner to enter; your first pairing will happen on the day.

Following the morning’s Open event, the first of the club’s three annual competitions takes place.
It will be the AMERICAN DOUBLES; doubles matches with different partners for half an hour at a time: games tally is an individual count and the winner is the person with the most games after the allotted duration of play.
I would encourage you all to come down to the club, ‘rusty rackets or not’ and join in, may be just a chat /maybe some tennis / food and drink.
Although it is proposed that the Tournament start at 1pm, can I recommend you make it to the club earlier, as a midday start would be preferable.
Entrance fee : £3.00
Bring coffee and brownies to toast the new season in. Please let Frances Lay know if you intend to play.
